Ruth Carter Stevenson (October 19, 1923 – January 6, 2013) was an American patron of the arts and founder of the Amon Carter Museum of American Art, which opened in Fort Worth, Texas, in January 1961.Stevenson was born to Amon G. Carter and Nenetta Carter in Fort Worth, Texas, in 1923. She was the second daughter of Carter, the creator and publisher of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. She graduated from the Madeira School and then earned a chemistry degree from Sarah Lawrence College in Yonkers, New York in 1945.Her father specified in his will that a museum specializing in Western American art to be created after his death in 1955, to house his more than 700 art objects depicting the American West, primarily paintings and sculptures by Frederic Remington and Charles Russell. Stevenson hired architect Philip Johnson to design the building and opened the Amon Carter Museum of Western Art in January 1961, following her father's wishes. She was the first president of the museum's board of trustees and was president at her death in 2013.Stevenson was also the first woman to be appointed to the board of directors of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C., and the first woman to become the chairman of that board. Along with local art enthusiasts Owen Day and Sam Cantey III, Stephenson assembled An Art Exhibition for the President and Mrs. John F. Kennedy which decorated the suite in the Hotel Texas in Fort Worth, Texas, occupied by United States President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy on the night before his assassination on November 22, 1963.Ruth Carter Stevenson died at her home in Fort Worth, Texas, on January 6, 2013, at the age of 89.

Riki Kobayashi (1924–2013) was a chemical engineer and a long-time professor of chemical engineering at Rice University. A native of Harris County, Texas, he attended Rice University (then known as Rice Institute) and earned the Bachelor of Science in chemical engineering at the age of 19. After serving in the U.S. Army, he went to the University of Michigan, where he earned the Master of Science degree in 1946 and the Doctor of Philosophy degree in 1951, both in chemical engineering. He became a member of the Rice faculty in 1951 and remained there until he retired in 1994. He died July 19, 2013, in Houston, Texas.

James Earl Mankins Sr. (February 9, 1926 – August 20, 2013) was an American businessman and politician.
Born in Electra, Texas, Mankins served in the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Mankins owned a trucking business in Kilgore, Texas. He served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1975 to 1985 as a Democrat. Mankins was defeated by Michael W. Martin in the 1980 election cycle. After Martin resigned the District 13 seat, Mankins won a special election to return to the state house. Mankins died in Longview, Texas.Mankins's son and namesake was indicted in 1995, after an investigation into the Kentucky Fried Chicken murders. Charges against Mankins Jr. were dismissed after DNA evidence failed to show that Mankins Jr. was involved in the crime. By a 2003 court order, his indictment was expunged from non-investigatory records of the KFC murders case, although Mankins Jr. remained imprisoned at the time on separate drug charges.

Val Joe Walker (January 7, 1930 –December 25, 2013) was a defensive back in the National Football League (NFL). He was drafted in the seventh round of the 1952 NFL Draft by the New York Giants and would later play four seasons with the Green Bay Packers and one with the San Francisco 49ers.

Edward Cornelius Reed Jr. (July 8, 1924 – June 1, 2013) was a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Nevada.

William Jarrel Cross (May 3, 1929 – July 5, 2013) was a professional American football player who played running back for three seasons for the Chicago Cardinals. He finished his career as an all-star in the Interprovincial Rugby Football Union with the Toronto Argonauts in 1954. He died in Canadian, Texas in 2013.

Frank Kell Cahoon (June 20, 1934 – January 30, 2013) was an American politician who served in the Texas House of Representatives from 1965 to 1969.Cahoon was born in Austin, Texas and grew up in Wichita Falls, Texas. Cahoon went to Colorado School of Mines and University of Texas at Austin. Cahoon served in the United States Army. He was involved in the oil business in Midland, Texas. Cahoon served on the Midland City Council. He was the state's only Republican state legislator in 1965.He was named after his maternal grandfather, Frank Kell.

James Madison Nabrit III (June 11, 1932 – March 22, 2013) was an African American civil rights attorney who won several important decisions before the U.S. Supreme Court. He was also a long-time attorney for the NAACP Legal Defense Fund.
