Wendell Wise Mayes Jr. (March 2, 1924 – September 12, 2021) was an American radio and cable television executive in Austin, Texas, who was known for his leadership roles with the American Diabetes Association and the International Diabetes Federation.
The American Diabetes Association presents the Wendell Mayes Jr. Award for Lifetime Service, its highest award given to non-medical professional volunteers, to honor members for their lifetime achievement. He was the initial recipient of the award in 1986. Mayes was also a longtime supporter of education, earning five college degrees and establishing scholarships and awards at five higher education institutions in Texas.

Lyall Stuart Scott FRCSED, FRCSGLAS (22 September 1920 – 8 October 1977) was a Scottish consultant surgeon who specialised in urology.

Anna MacGillivray Macleod (15 May 1917 – 13 August 2004) was a Scottish biochemist and academic, an authority on brewing and distilling. She was a professor at Heriot-Watt University in Edinburgh. She was the world's first female Professor of Brewing and Biochemistry.

Sidney Carne Wolff (born 1941) is an American astrophysicist, researcher, public educator, and author. She is the first woman in the United States to head a major observatory, and she provided significant contributions to the construction of six telescopes. Wolff served as Director of the Kitt Peak National Observatory (KPNO) and the National Optical Astronomy Observatory (NOAO). She is a member of the International Astronomical Union's Division G: Stars and Stellar Physics.

Beverly Joy O'Neill (née Lewis; September 8, 1930) is an American politician. She served as mayor of Long Beach, California from 1994 to 2006. She is the only three-term citywide elected mayor of Long Beach, having won her third term as a write-in candidate because of Long Beach's term limits law preventing a two-term mayor from appearing on the ballot.

Robert J. Weber (1942 in Stout, Iowa – 21 November 2018 in Des Moines) was an American engineer and researcher who specialized in microwave engineering, device fabrication, fiber optics, and sensor design. He was professor emeritus of Iowa State University‘s Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and a life fellow of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).Weber received his Ph.D. from Iowa State in 1967. He worked for Rockwell Collins for 25 years before becoming a professor in 1988. He retired in 2010.

Kenneth W. Thompson (August 29, 1921 – February 2, 2013) was an American academic and author known for his contributions to normative theory in international relations. In 1978 he became director of the Miller Center of Public Affairs at the University of Virginia. He retired as director in 1998, but continued to head its Forum Program until 2004.
