Francis Paul Veber (born 28 July 1937) is a French film director, screenwriter and producer, and playwright. He has written and directed both French and American films. Nine French-language films with which he has been involved, as either writer or director or both, have been remade as English-language Hollywood films: Le grand blond avec une chaussure noire (as The Man with One Red Shoe), L'emmerdeur (as Buddy Buddy), La Cage aux Folles (as The Birdcage), Le Jouet (as The Toy), Les Compères (as Fathers' Day), La chèvre (as Pure Luck), Les Fugitifs (as Three Fugitives), Le dîner de cons (as Dinner for Schmucks) and La Doublure (as The Valet). He also wrote the screenplay for My Father the Hero, the 1994 American remake of the French-language film Mon père, ce héros.
Some of his screenplays started as theater plays (for instance, Le dîner de cons). This theatrical experience contributes to his films' tight structure, resulting in what has been called "marvels of economy".Many of his French comedies feature recurring types of characters, named François Pignon (a bungler) and François Perrin (a bully).

Claude Miller (20 February 1942 – 4 April 2012) was a French film director, producer and screenwriter.

Marc-Gilbert Sauvajon (25 September 1909, Valence, Drôme – 15 April 1985, Montpellier) was a French film director, script-writer, playwright and author.After studying law, he was made chief editor of the daily newspaper Sud-Est. He founded the journal Valence-Républicain.
His play "All in the Family", adapted by Victor Wolfson, was given its first performance at the Strand Theatre, London on 17 June 1959. It was directed by Norman Marshall and designed by Paul Mayo. The cast consisted of Maxine Audley, Donald Sinden, Andre Morell, Brian Oulton, Peggy Thorpe-Bates, Michael Logan, Vanda Godsell, Pauline Knight, Virginia Maskell, Mary Powell, Douglas Malcom and Philip Ashley.

Valentino Orsini (19 January 1927 in Pisa – 26 January 2001 in Cerveteri) was an Italian film director.
After his first interests to arts (he had been sculptor, stage designer, cinema critic, cineclub animator) in his hometown, in 1954 Valentino Orsini directed with the brothers Paolo and Vittorio Taviani (born in the near small city of San Miniato) the documentary San Miniato: luglio 1944. After other documentaries, most with Taviani brothers, he realized his first fiction films in 1962 and in 1963, both with the two brothers. After other documentaries Orsini directed his first fiction film alone, I dannati della terra in 1969. Despite his few fiction films (but he realized a lot of documentaries all around the world) Orsini is highly considered for his role in renewing Italian cinema in 1960s and 1970s, facing subjects such as the peasants' fights in Sicily, the divorce, the underdeveloped countries. In his last films his civil commitment was less present.
For several years, he was the main Film directing teacher at the National Film School, Centro Sperimentale di Cinematografia in Rome, Italy. Among his students: Gabriele Muccino, Francesca Archibugi, Fausto Brizzi, Salvatore Mereu, Giuseppe Petitto, Paolo Franchi.

Umberto Barbaro (3 January 1902, Acireale – 19 March 1959, Rome) was an Italian film critic and essayist.
