David Nyhan (December 23, 1940 – January 23, 2005), born Charles David Nyhan Jr., was a journalist and biographer, whose op-ed column ran in The Boston Globe newspaper for many years. He graduated from Harvard College where he played varsity football.His column was syndicated to more than 16 newspapers and magazines by Creators Syndicate, and after working for The Boston Globe for 32 years, he retired in 2001.
Boston-area professor and editor Bill Ketter remarked "For David Nyhan, giving voice to the voiceless was intuitive." He covered national politics and was a frequent source for commentary on presidential races and on the New Hampshire primary in particular.
In his last column, he wrote: "The thing I'll miss most is the chance to shine a little flashlight on a dark corner, where a wrong was done to a powerless peon, where a scarred politician maybe deserved a better fate, where the process went awry, or the mob needed to be calmed down and herded in another direction."
Nyhan died suddenly aged 64 on January 23, 2005, at his home in Brookline, suffering a heart attack after shoveling snow.

Her memoir, My Kitchen Wars, was performed in Hollywood and New York as a one-woman show by actress Dorothy Lyman. Her most recent book is Eat Live Love Die, and she is now working on How to Cook a Coyote: A Manual of Survival.

Giovanna Botteri (born 14 June 1957 in Trieste) is an Italian journalist and TV correspondent specialized in foreign politics.
Botteri’s father, Guido Botteri, was a journalist with Italy's national public broadcasting company, RAI. Her mother was a Montenegrin.
She holds a Ph.D. in history of cinema from the Sorbonne. From 1991 to 1996, she covered the Balkan conflict in Croatia and Bosnia. After a spell as a co-conductor with Michele Santoro of the TV programme “Samarcanda” on RAI 3, she worked for RAI 3 news programme TG3 as a correspondent from Algeria, South Africa, Iran, Albania and Kosovo. Since 2018 she is a political commentator and correspondent from New York.

Patrick Mark "Pat" Kane (born 10 March 1964) is a Scottish musician, journalist, political activist and one half of the pop duo Hue and Cry with his younger brother Greg.Kane is a writer on political and cultural topics, and was an activist for Scottish self-government in the 1980s and 1990s. He helped found the organization Artists for an Independent Scotland. In 1990, he was elected Rector of the University of Glasgow for three years (defeating veteran Labour MP Tony Benn). He graduated from the university in 1985, earning an MA in English.Whilst Rector at Glasgow, Kane had a column at the Glasgow University Guardian which was then edited by Iain Martin. Kane's copy was the subject of two notorious edits – a reference to the scholar Raymond Williams was altered to Kenneth Williams, and the sociologist Alvin Toffler to Alvin Stardust.During the 1990s, he began working as an arts journalist, presenting several live discussion shows for Channel 4 and BBC2, and came third with BBC Radio Scotland series, Kane Over America for a Sony Award, in a category won by Allan Little. In 1999, Kane was one of the founding editors of the Sunday Herald newspaper. He occasionally writes for The Guardian. He is a regular columnist for the sister paper to the Sunday Herald, The National.
In 2004, Kane published The Play Ethic: A Manifesto for a Different Way of Living. The author description says he "runs seminars, talks and runs a website reaching out to people living the Play Ethic".
Kane was formerly married to Joan McAlpine, an SNP Member of the Scottish Parliament for the South of Scotland region. They have two daughters, Grace and Eleanor, who were educated at a private school.
