Erich Maschke (March 2, 1900 – February 11, 1982) was a German historian, history professor, and Nazi ideologue. He last taught at Heidelberg University. During the Nazi era he promoted racist and nationalist ideology. After the war he led the so-called Maschke Committee, commissioned by the West German parliament, which investigated the treatment of German prisoners-of-war during and after World War II by the Allies.

Luiz Felipe de Cerqueira e Silva Pondé (born April 29, 1959) is a Brazilian writer and professor of philosophy.
He graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in philosophy. He was awarded a Doctor's Degree by the University of Sao Paulo, together with an exchange program with the University of Paris. He finished his Post-Doctorate at the University of Tel Aviv. Currently, he works as a professor in the Brazilian Educational Institution Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado and Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo.
He writes weekly for the Brazilian Newspaper Folha de S.Paulo and is the author of many works, being most famous for his book, "The Politically Incorrect Guide of Philosophy". He appears often on Jornal da Cultura, on TV Cultura.

Aron Simis is a mathematician born in Recife, Brazil in 1942. He is a full professor at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Brazil, and Class A research scholarship recipient from the Brazilian Research Council. He earned his PhD from Queen's University, Canada.He has previously held a full professorship at IMPA (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Applicada) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was president of the Brazilian Mathematical Society and member on several occasions of international commissions of the IMU (International Mathematical Union) and TWAS (Academy of Sciences for the Developing World).He has been director of three workshops in his field at the ICTP (Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics). In Brazil he is a recipient of the National Medal for Scientific Merit at the order of Grã-Cruz and a member of the Brazilian Research Group in Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry (1997–2007).At large he is a John Simon Guggenheim Fellow and has been awarded other fellowships from the Max Planck Institute, Japan Society for Promotion of Science, and the Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica. He is a member both of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (Trieste, Italy).His main research interests in mathematics include: main structures in commutative algebra; projective varieties in algebraic geometry; aspects of algebraic combinatorics; special graded algebras; foundations of Rees algebras; cremona and birational maps; algebraic vector fields; differential methods.Simis is of Romanian origin, his parents immigrated to Brazil from Romania in the 1920s.

Sarah Margaret Hodges née Moore (July 26, 1911 – December 13, 2005) was an American writer of children's books, librarian, and storyteller.
Sarah Margaret Moore was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to Arthur Carlisle Moore and Annie Marie Moore. She enrolled at Tudor Hall, a college preparatory school for girls. A 1932 graduate of Vassar College, she arrived in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her husband Fletcher Hodges Jr. when in 1937 he became curator at the Stephen Foster Memorial. She trained as a librarian at Carnegie Institute of Technology, now Carnegie Mellon University, under Elizabeth Nesbitt, and she volunteered as a storyteller at the Carnegie Library of Pittsburgh. Beginning in 1958 with One Little Drum, she wrote more than 40 published books. She also wrote the book John F. Kennedy Voice of Hope. In 1953, she was hired as the storyteller for a radio show called Let's Tell A Story. It became the storytelling segment, "Tell Me a Story", for Fred Rogers' children's television show at WQED, which ran from the mid-1960s to 1976 (the first run of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood).
Illustrator Trina Schart Hyman won the annual Caldecott Medal for the 1985 picture book Saint George and the Dragon written by Hodges. Two more of her well-known works are What's for Lunch, Charley?, and Merlin and the Making of the King.
She was a professor of library science at the University of Pittsburgh, where she retired in 1976.
Hodges died of heart disease December 13, 2005, at her home in Oakmont, Pennsylvania. She suffered from Parkinson's disease.She wrote her stories on a notepad or a typewriter. "I need good ideas, and they don't come out of machines", she once said.
