Daniel Giraud (10 January 1946 – 6 October 2023) was a French essayist, translator, and poet. He was also a blues musician under the stage name Dan Giraud.
Giraud translated the poems of Oriental writers such as Li Bai, Hanshan, Ryōkan, and Sengcan. He also wrote works on Chan Buddhism, alchemy, and astrology.

He was a visiting scholar of the "Human Complex Systems" Program at UCLA from 2005 to 2009. He currently lives in France, where he runs a popular blog on financial and economic matters. In 2012, the Vrije Universiteit Brussel made him holder of the newly created "Stewardship of Finance" chair.

She is a member of the editorial board of the Belgian French-language newspaper Le Soir, where she directs news coverage of Africa, particularly Central Africa. She has also been published in reviews and magazines, notably Le Monde diplomatique in both its French and English editions.

For their part, there have been critics of Braeckman's work, particularly public personalities within France who defend other arguments more favourable to the French government, but which have nonetheless been challenged; Canadian essayist Robin Philpot, journalists Pierre Péan and Charles Onana, by historian Bernard Lugan, by French Colonel Jacques Hogard and by Joseph Ngarambe, a survivor of the Rwandan genocide, an expert consultant for the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda, in an interview given to M. Péan and reported in his book.Many of Braeckman's works have been reprinted by the organization Survie, which disseminates information about conflict in the former colonies of France in Africa.

Due to her concern for the environment, she created a turtle logo for companies to use for bags that they make that are both biodegradable and compostable.
