John William "Uncle Jack" Dey (November 11, 1912 – October 10, 1978) was an American self-taught artist who lived and worked primarily in Virginia. Before he began painting, he worked as a trapper, fisherman, lumberjack, barber, and police officer. Dey was a favorite among the neighborhood children, whose toys and bicycles he fixed, and they affectionately nicknamed him "Uncle Jack".

Newton Smith "Bucky" Jacobs (March 21, 1913 – June 15, 1990) was a Major League Baseball pitcher who played for three seasons. He played for the Washington Senators for 11 games during the 1937 Washington Senators season, then for 11 combined games in 1939 and 1940. He played college baseball at the University of Richmond.
John Stanley Schuchman (November 12, 1938 – December 19, 2017) was an American educator and academic administrator who taught at Gallaudet University.
Born in Indianapolis on November 12, 1938, Schuchman was raised by parents Harry and Florence Schuchman, who were deaf and spoke American Sign Language at home. Schuchman graduated from Butler University in 1961 with a bachelor's degree, then earned a master's degree and doctorate from Indiana University, as well as a J. D. from Georgetown. He joined the Gallaudet University faculty in 1967. Three year later, Schuchman began his career as an academic administrator, first as dean of Gallaudet, then vice president for academic affairs, and provost. He stepped down in 1985, and resumed teaching. In 1988, Schuchman wrote Hollywood Speaks: Deafness and the Film Entertainment Industry, which covered the portrayal of deafness in the film industry. Schuchman retired in 1998, though he continued to teach until 2000. In 2002, Schuchman and Donna F. Ryan coauthored Deaf People in Hitler's Europe, about the persecution of the deaf in Nazi Germany though what later became known as Aktion T4. Schuchman died of cancer on December 19, 2017, at his home in Ashburn, Virginia, aged 79.

David N. Martin (April 19, 1930 – October 2, 2012) was an American advertising executive. In 1965, Martin and his business partner, George Woltz, co-founded The Martin Agency, an advertising agency headquartered in Richmond, Virginia. Martin also created the iconic tourism advertising slogan, Virginia is for Lovers, to market the U.S. state of Virginia as a tourist destination. In 2012, Advertising Age called Virginia is for Lovers, which was first unveiled in 1969, "one of the most iconic ad campaigns in the past 50 years." The advertising campaign is still used by Virginia as of 2016.
