Walter Moritz Boas FAA (10 February 1904 – 12 May 1982) was a German-Australian metallurgist.Boas was born in Berlin, Germany and was educated at the Berlin Institute of Technology (Dip. Engin. 1928, Dr.-Ing. 1930). After several positions at German and Swiss institutions, Boas became a lecturer in metallurgy at University of Melbourne in 1938; then from 1940 to 1947, senior lecturer. From 1947 to 1949, Boas was principal research officer, CSIR Division of Tribophysics; and from 1949 to 1969 chief of the division.The Walter Boas Medal of the Australian Institute of Physics is named in his honour.

Gabriele Tergit (pseudonym for Elise Reifenberg née Hirschmann) (4 March 1894 – 25 July 1982) was a German-born British writer and journalist. She became known primarily for her court reports, and as a writer, for her novel Käsebier conquers the Kurfürstendamm (Käsebier erobert den Kurfürstendamm; in translation published under the title Käsebier Takes Berlin). Tergit served as secretary of the PEN-Center of German-language Authors Abroad. Tergit was the mother of mathematician Ernst Robert Reifenberg.

Erich Maschke (March 2, 1900 – February 11, 1982) was a German historian, history professor, and Nazi ideologue. He last taught at Heidelberg University. During the Nazi era he promoted racist and nationalist ideology. After the war he led the so-called Maschke Committee, commissioned by the West German parliament, which investigated the treatment of German prisoners-of-war during and after World War II by the Allies.

General Erwin Vierow (15 May 1890 – 1 February 1982) was a general in the Wehrmacht of Nazi Germany during World War II.
Between the wars he served on the General Staff of the Reichswehr and in the infantry and by the outbreak of World War II he had reached the rank of Generalmajor in the Wehrmacht. In August 1940 was appointed as commander of the 9th Infantry Division. Serving on the Eastern Front as commander of 55th Army Corps he became the military commandant of the city of Kharkov upon its capture on 24 October 1941. He was awarded the Knight's Cross of the Iron Cross on November 15, 1941.
On 1 July 1943, he was appointed commander of the army in northwest France, covering the regions of Laon, Orléans and Rouen and held this command until September 1944 when he was appointed chief of the ad hoc ‘General Command Somme’. He held this post until he surrendered to the British forces.

Ellen Hulda Johnson (1910–1992) was a distinguished art historian and professor of modern art at Oberlin College from 1945 to 1977, an organizer of important exhibitions, and an influential critic of contemporary American art.

Angus Jeffers Nicoson (September 30, 1919 – May 1, 1982) was an American football, basketball and baseball player and coach. He served as head basketball coach and athletic director at his alma mater, Indiana Central (today the University of Indianapolis), from 1947 to 1976. During this time, he spent 16 summers coaching the Indiana High School all-star basketball teams in the Indiana-Kentucky All-Star Series (1952 through 1965, 1970, and 1971). He also served as head baseball coach at Indiana Central from 1946 to 1954 and 1956 to 1958, and as head football coach from 1947 through 1949 and for the 1954 season.
