Etienne Adolf Schouppe (born 24 July 1942 in Denderleeuw) is a Belgian politician. He is a member of the Christen-Democratisch en Vlaams party. Before his entry into politics, he was executive manager of the National Railway Company of Belgium. Schouppe was a member of the Belgian Senate from 2003 to 2010 and since 2008 the State Secretary for Mobility. At the local level Schouppe was mayor of Liedekerke for eleven years. In 2010 he retired from politics. In 2010 he was also accused of insider trading for having sold KBC and Dexia shares with special information.

William Albert Turnage (December 9, 1942 – October 15, 2017) was the director of The Wilderness Society from 1978 to 1985 and business manager of photographer Ansel Adams. He was known for turning the Wilderness Society into a more professional advocacy group, and was an outspoken critic of James G. Watt, the Interior Secretary in the Reagan Administration. Born in Tucson and raised in Washington, D.C., Turnage earned a degree in history from Yale University in 1965 and entered Yale Law School before switching to the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies. He met Adams while working with Yale Chubb Fellowship and left school shortly after Adams invited him to manage his photography.

He is a full professor at the Universidade Federal de Pernambuco, Brazil, and Class A research scholarship recipient from the Brazilian Research Council. He earned his PhD from Queen's University, Canada.He has previously held a full professorship at IMPA (Instituto de Matemática Pura e Applicada) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was president of the Brazilian Mathematical Society and member on several occasions of international commissions of the IMU (International Mathematical Union) and TWAS (Academy of Sciences for the Developing World).He has been director of three workshops in his field at the ICTP (Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics). In Brazil he is a recipient of the National Medal for Scientific Merit at the order of Grã-Cruz and a member of the Brazilian Research Group in Commutative Algebra and Algebraic Geometry (1997–2007).At large he is a John Simon Guggenheim Fellow and has been awarded other fellowships from the Max Planck Institute, Japan Society for Promotion of Science, and the Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica. He is a member both of the Brazilian Academy of Sciences and the Academy of Sciences for the Developing World (Trieste, Italy).His main research interests in mathematics include: main structures in commutative algebra; projective varieties in algebraic geometry; aspects of algebraic combinatorics; special graded algebras; foundations of Rees algebras; cremona and birational maps; algebraic vector fields; differential methods.Simis is of Romanian origin, his parents immigrated to Brazil from Romania in the 1920s.
Jarbas Vasconcelos (born 23 August 1942) is a Brazilian politician and lawyer. He represented Pernambuco in the Federal Senate from 2007 to 2015 and for a second term from 2019 to September 2023, when he officially resigned from office and retired from politics. Previously, he was governor of Pernambuco from 1999 to 2006. He is a member of the Brazilian Democratic Movement Party.
