Peder Lunde Jr. (born 9 February 1942) is a retired Norwegian sailor who competed in the 1960, 1968, 1972 and 1976 Olympics. In 1960, he won a gold medal in the Flying Dutchman class, together with Bjørn Bergvall. Eight years later, he earned a silver medal in the Star class, together with Per Olav Wiken. He placed sixth in the same event in 1972, and 16th in 1976 in the three-person keelboat. In 1981-82, he was a crewmember on the yacht Berge Viking in the Whitbread Round the World Yacht Race. Lunde comes from a sailing family: his parents Peder and Vibeke Lunde together with uncle Børre Falkum-Hansen won a silver medal at the 1952 Summer Olympics, and his grandfather Eugen Lunde became an Olympic champion in 1924. His wife Aud is an Olympic alpine skier, and their daughter Jeanette competed at Olympics both in alpine skiing and sailing.He resides at Snarøya.

Hubert M. Houser (born October 9, 1942) was the Iowa State Senator from the 49th District. He served in the Iowa Senate from 2002, when he filled a vacancy left by Derryl McLaren's resignation, until 2013. [1]
Houser served on several committees in the Iowa Senate - the Agriculture committee; the Local Government committee; the Transportation committee; the Ways and Means committee; and the Economic Growth committee, where he is the ranking member. He also serves on the Agriculture and Natural Resources Appropriations Subcommittee. His prior political experience includes serving as a representative in the Iowa House from 1992 to 2001, serving on the Pottawattamie County Board of Supervisors from 1979 to 1993, and serving two terms on the Carson-Macedonia School Board.
Houser was re-elected in 2006 with 14,373 votes, running unopposed. [2]

Clara Nunes (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈklaɾɐ ˈnunis], August 12, 1942 – April 2, 1983) was a Brazilian samba and MPB singer, considered one of the greatest of her generation. She was the first female singer in Brazil to sell over 100,000 copies of a record, with "Tristeza Pé No Chão" and her achievements in the samba genre earned her the title of "Queen of Samba".She had an enormous success with samba songs written by composers such as Nelson Cavaquinho, Paulinho da Viola and Chico Buarque, in addition to songs devoted to orishas and Portela, her favorite samba school. Among her hits, recorded in 16 solo albums, are "Você passa, eu acho graça" (1968), "Ê baiana" (1971), "Conto de areia" (1974), "O mar serenou" (1975), "Coração leviano" (1977), "Na linha do mar" (1979), "Morena de Angola" (1980), and "Nação" (1982). At the peak of her career, Nunes would sell more than a million copies of each album she released.Nunes was also a researcher of the rhythms and folklore of Brazilian popular music, and traveled several times to Africa to search for the roots of black music. Familiar with Afro-Brazilian dances and traditions, she converted to Candomblé in her later life. On April 2, 1983, she died at age 40 after suffering from anaphylaxis during a surgery to treat varicose veins. Even today she remains one of the most popular singers in Brazil.

Melvyn J. Garland (June 23, 1942 – March 5, 1983) was an American basketball coach and player. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he emerged as a star dual-sport athlete in basketball and baseball at Arsenal Technical High School. Garland attended Purdue University and played for the Boilermakers on the basketball and baseball teams. He was a member of all-conference teams in both sports but excelled at basketball, where he was an Honorable Mention All-American during his junior season.
Garland turned to coaching after his graduation and began his career at Greenfield-Central High School as the coach of the basketball, baseball and cross country teams. He joined the Indiana State Sycamores men's basketball team as an assistant coach in 1967. Garland also served as the head coach of the Sycamores golf team for four seasons until his resignation from the university in 1975. He returned to high school coaching when he served as head basketball coach at Evansville Harrison High School for four seasons.
Garland was hired as the head coach and athletic director of the IUPUI Jaguars men's basketball team in 1979. He led the team to its first winning season in school history during the 1980–81 season but his career was prematurely ended when he stepped down due to health issues midway through the 1981–82 season. Garland continued to serve as athletic director until his death from leukemia on March 5, 1983.
