Unni Maria Lindell (born 3 April 1957 in Oslo) is a Norwegian writer. She is best known for her crime novels (whodunits), but has also written a collection of poems and several children's and young adult books.
Lindell worked as a journalist before she became an author. Her first book Den grønne dagen ("The green day") was published in 1986. One of Lindell's most prominent characters is detective Cato Isaksen. Some of the Isaksen books have been adapted as TV films starring Reidar Sørensen.
Lindell was awarded the Mads Wiel Nygaards Endowment in 1998 and the Critics' Prize for the year's best children's or youth literature. In 1999 and in 2018 she received the Riverton Prize (Rivertonprisen), a literature award given annually to the best Norwegian detective story.

Victoria Garrón de Doryan (8 October 1920 – 30 July 2005) was a Costa Rican educator and writer most known for serving as Second Vice President of Costa Rica from 1986 to 1990. She was the first woman to hold the post and during her tenure was acting president of the country over a dozen times. As a writer, she produced numerous biographies of historical Costa Ricans, as well as poetry.

Braulio Rubén Tupaj Amaru Grajeda Fuentes, prominently known by his literary pseudonym Leo Zelada, is a Spanish-Peruvian poet and writer. He was born in Lima, Peru, but has been living in Madrid, Spain for 18 years.

Kenneth Wayne Brewer (November 28, 1941 – March 15, 2006) was an American poet and longtime scholar who resided in Utah, where he served as Poet Laureate. Born in Indianapolis, Indiana, he attended Butler University and Western New Mexico University in the 1960s, then earned a master's degree in English literature from New Mexico State University, followed by a Ph.D. from the University of Utah, where he worked with Pulitzer Prize winner Henry Taylor, in 1973. Since that time he taught a wide variety of courses at Utah State University, concentrating on mentoring creative writers at the graduate level, while publishing prolifically and speaking extensively. He died after a nine-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

Grover Lewis (November 8, 1934 – April 16, 1995) was an American journalist now regarded as one of the forerunners of new journalism. His lengthy examinations of film, music and more in the 1970s included profiles of Paul Newman, The Allman Brothers Band, and an influential piece written about The Last Picture Show. He also did freelance work for The Village Voice, Texas Monthly, and was an editor and contributor to Rolling Stone.
Lewis published two books during his lifetime: I'll Be There in the Morning If I Live, a book of poetry, and Academy All the Way, a collection of essays he wrote for Rolling Stone. In 2005, the University of Texas Press released a compendium of his entire career entitled Splendor in the Short Grass, edited by and with an introduction by Jan Reid and W.K. Stratton, and with a foreword by Dave Hickey and a remembrance by Robert Draper.

Raúl R. Salinas (March 17, 1934 - February 13, 2008), better known by his pen name raúlrsalinas, was a Chicano pinto poet, memoirist, social activist, and prison journalist. Much of raúlrsalinas' writing was grounded in arguments for social justice and human rights. He was an early pioneer of Chicano pinto (prisoner) poetry and is notable for his use of vernacular, bilingual, and free verse aesthetics.Alongside Ricardo Sánchez, Judy Lucero, Luis Talamantez, and Jimmy Santiago Baca, raúlrsalinas sought to make prisoners' rights a more central focus of the Chicano Movement. Incarcerated for over a decade (1959–1972) for carrying a small amount of marijuana, raúlrsalinas wrote extensively while in prison, including essays, letters, prose, and journalism, the vast majority which is now held at Stanford University. raúlrsalinas' work extended beyond his prison writing, focusing also on his Xicanindio (indigenous identified Chicano) heritage and his politics as a Latino internationalist. According to Oxford University, raúlrsalinas "transformed elements of the American literary canon."

Virginia Mixson Geraty (1915–2004) was an American writer, librarian, and outspoken defender of the Gullah language. She authored poetry and books in the Gullah language and produced popular recordings in Gullah. She was also involved in theater and film productions that promoted popular understanding of the language.
