Madame Doubtfire, known as Alias Madame Doubtfire in the United States, is a 1987 novel written by English author Anne Fine for teenage and young adult audiences. The novel is based on a family with divorced parents. Well received upon its publication in the UK, it was shortlisted for awards, including the Guardian Children's Fiction Prize and Whitbread Children's Book Award.
In November 1993, six years following its publication, the novel was adapted into Mrs. Doubtfire, a film starring Robin Williams and Sally Field.

Dorothy Bar-Adon (August 2, 1907 – August 7, 1950) was an American-born Israeli journalist. Her early experience as a correspondent was gained on The Atlantic City Press. From her immigration to Mandate Palestine in 1933 until her death she worked as a journalist for The Palestine Post (later The Jerusalem Post), covering a wide range of international and domestic issues. She died at 43.

Lew Wood (1929 – August 21, 2013) was an American television journalist and public relations professional who reported for CBS News and NBC News. Wood served as the news anchor on NBC's Today Show from 1975 to 1976.

Edward "Corky" Cornelius (December 3, 1914 – August 3, 1943) was an American jazz trumpeter.
Cornelius's father was a drummer who worked regionally in dance bands in Texas. He was born in Indiana and raised in Binghamton, New York, and began his career in the early 1930s, playing with Les Brown, Buddy Rogers, and Frank Dailey. He joined Benny Goodman's band early in 1939, and went with Gene Krupa when the drummer split off to form his own group.
While there, Cornelius met singer Irene Daye, whom he married soon after. He played with the Casa Loma Orchestra from 1941 until 1943, when he died suddenly of kidney failure. His widow, Daye, married Charlie Spivak, in 1950.

Nora Eddington (February 25, 1924 – April 10, 2001) was an American actress and socialite. She was best known as the second wife of actor Errol Flynn. Eddington appeared in several minor film roles.

Fontaine Maury Maverick Jr. (January 3, 1921 – January 28, 2003) was an American lawyer, politician, activist, and columnist from the U.S. state of Texas. A member of the prominent Maverick family, he was the great-grandson of Samuel Maverick, the rancher who signed the Texas Declaration of Independence and famously refused to brand his cattle, and the son of Maury Maverick Sr., a two-term member of the United States House of Representatives.
