Medalists at the 1948 Summer Olympics

Willy Røgeberg (1 December 1905 – 15 December 1969) was a Norwegian rifle shooter who competed before and after World War II. He won two Olympic medals. He won his first olympic medal in 50 m Rifle, prone at the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin. After the war he won a bronze medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, this time in 300 m Rifle, Three positions. He also won several medals in the ISSF World Shooting Championships.After his Olympic medal in 1936 he started his own guns and sporting equipment business in Oslo.
During the Second World War German occupation of Norway, Røgeberg was arrested by the Germans on 29 May 1942 on weapons related charges. He spent the period 29 May – 5 October 1942 incarcerated at Møllergata 19, then 5 October 1942 to 22 December 1943 as prisoner no. 4776 at Grini concentration camp.

Juan Evangelista Venegas (December 27, 1928 – April 16, 1987) was a Puerto Rican boxer notable for winning Puerto Rico's first Olympic medal.

Marcel Hansenne (January 24, 1917 – March 22, 2002) was a French middle distance runner, who won the bronze medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London over 800 m in a time of 1:49.8 min. The race was won by Mal Whitfield. Hansenne also equalled Rune Gustafsson's 1000 m world record of 2:21.4 in Gothenburg in 1948. Hansenne was born in Tourcoing.

Albert Decaris (6 May 1901 – 1 January 1988) was a French artist, engraver, painter and Olympic Gold Medallist.

Alessandro D'Ottavio (26 August 1927 – 31 December 1987) was an Italian boxer. He won the bronze medal at the Olympic Games in 1948 for Italy in the 67 kg category. He was born in Rome, Italy.

Ivano Fontana (25 November 1926 – 24 December 1993) was an Italian boxer. He won a bronze medal in the middleweight division at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London, losing to gold medal winner Laszlo Papp. He was born in Lucca, Italy.

Robert Boutigny (24 July 1927 – 22 July 2022) was a French sprint canoeist who competed from the late 1940s to the early 1950s. Competing in two Summer Olympics, he won a bronze medal in the C-1 1000 m event at London in 1948. Boutigny also won two medals at the 1950 ICF Canoe Sprint World Championships with a gold in the C-1 10000 m and a silver in the C-1 1000 m events.

Georges Vallerey Jr. (21 October 1927 – 4 October 1954) was a French swimmer, born in Amiens, who competed in the 1948 Summer Olympics.

Bernard Chevallier (4 October 1912 – 6 April 1997 was a French equestrian and Olympic champion. He won an individual gold medal in eventing at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London.

André Jousseaume (27 July 1894 in Yvré-l'Évêque – 26 May 1960 in Chantilly) was a French equestrian and Olympic champion. He won a gold medal in team dressage at the 1932 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles, and another gold medal at the 1948 Summer Olympics in London.
