Smilo Walther Hinko Oskar Constantin Wilhelm Freiherr von Lüttwitz (23 December 1895 – 19 May 1975) was a German general during World War II and son of Walther von Lüttwitz. After World War II he joined the Bundeswehr on 1st June 1957 and retired on 31 December 1960.
Antoni Cierplikowski (Polish pronunciation: [anˈtɔni t͡ɕɛrpliˈkɔfski]; 24 December 1884 – 5 July 1976) was a Polish hairdresser who became the world's first celebrity hairdresser when he opened the salon Antoine de Paris in Paris and became known as Monsieur Antoine. Among his clients were world-famous female personalities like Coco Chanel, Queen Marie of Romania, Sarah Bernhardt, Greta Garbo, U.S. First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt, and Brigitte Bardot.
Antoni Słonimski (15 November 1895 – 4 July 1976) was a Polish poet, artist, journalist, playwright and prose writer, president of the Union of Polish Writers in 1956–1959 during the Polish October, known for his devotion to social justice.
Słonimski was the grandson of Hayyim Selig Slonimski, the founder of "ha-Tsefirah"- the first Hebrew weekly with an emphasis on the sciences. His father, an ophthalmologist, converted to Christianity when he married a Catholic woman. Słonimski was born in Warsaw and baptized and raised as a Christian. Słonimski studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Warsaw. In 1919 he co-founded the Skamander group of experimental poets with Julian Tuwim and Jarosław Iwaszkiewicz. In 1924 he travelled to Palestine and Brasil and in 1932 to the Soviet Union.
Słonimski spent the war years in exile in England and France, returning to Poland in 1951. He worked as contributor to popular periodicals: Nowa Kultura (1950–1962), Szpilki (1953–73) and Przegląd Kulturalny. He was an active anti-Stalinist and supporter of liberalization. In 1964 he was one of the signatories and the main author of the so-called Letter of 34 to Prime Minister Józef Cyrankiewicz regarding freedom of culture. Słonimski died on 4 July 1976 in a car accident in Warsaw.
Fernand Sardou (18 September 1910 – 31 January 1976) was a French singer and actor.
Sardou was the father of Michel Sardou, and he married Jackie Rollin (Jackie Sardou), an actress. His two grandsons are French novelist Romain Sardou and French actor Davy Sardou.
Richard Condie Sanders (August 19, 1915 – September 20, 1976) was the youngest general officer in the history of the United States Air Force. Born in 1915, in Salt Lake City, Utah, he graduated from the University of Utah in 1937, with a Bachelor of Science degree, and was appointed a second lieutenant, Field Artillery Reserve on September 4, 1936, while still in college. He served on extended active duty from July 28, 1937, to June 30, 1938, and from July 5, 1938, to September 30, 1938. He then enlisted as a flying cadet on October 4, 1938, and, on completion of his training, was commissioned a second lieutenant, Air Reserve, on August 25, 1939. He was called to active duty the next day and was commissioned a second lieutenant, Air Corps, Regular Army, on July 1, 1940.
Samuel Ramón Quiñones Quiñones (October 29, 1903 – March 11, 1976) commonly known as Samuel R. Quiñones was a prominent attorney in Puerto Rico who served as Speaker of the House of Representatives of Puerto Rico from 1941 to 1943 and for twenty years in the Senate of Puerto Rico as its fifth President, from 1949 to 1968, by far the longest serving Senate President. He is also the only person to hold both posts.
Charles John Naughton (21 April 1886 – 11 February 1976) was a Scottish comedian.Naughton was born in Glasgow. He was a member of The Crazy Gang, and part of a double act, Naughton and Gold with fellow Glaswegian Jimmy Gold. In 1955, he starred in the first Guinness television commercial, playing the zoo-keeper with a German seal. He died in London.
His daughter, Sally, was a pre-war actress on stage and with British-Gaumont films, appearing under the name Sally Stewart. As a 23-year-old she married in an Edinburgh solicitor's office in January 1939 to Peter Croft, 21-year-old British film actor, son of Ann Croft, actress. Sally's daughter, Naughton's granddaughter, Sally-Anne Stapleford is a five-time British champion in figure skating in the ladies event and won the silver medal at the 1965 European Figure Skating Championships.

Carl Jacob Arnholm (18 December 1899 – 15 September 1976) was a Norwegian jurist.
He was born in Oslo as a son of civil servant Carsten Johannes Andersen (1865–1950) and Gunvor Henriksen (1866–1940). He finished his secondary education in Kristiania in 1917, and graduated with the cand.jur. degree in 1921. After one year as deputy judge he worked as a junior solicitor from 1923. From 1927 he was entitled to work with Supreme Court cases. In 1930 he was hired as research fellow at the Royal Frederick University, and took the dr.juris degree already in 1931, on the thesis Betingelsene for testamenters gyldighet efter norsk rett. He was then a professor from 1933 to 1968. He served as dean of the Faculty of Law from 1945 to 1951, and in the same period he was deputy chairman of the university collegium (board).During the German occupation of Norway Arnholm had been imprisoned. When the Nazi authorities were about to change the rules for admission to the university in autumn 1943, a protest ensued. In retaliation, the authorities arrested 11 staff, 60 male students and 10 female students. The staff Johannes Andenæs, Eiliv Skard, Johan Christian Schreiner, Harald Krabbe Schjelderup, Anatol Heintz, Odd Hassel, Ragnar Frisch, Bjørn Føyn, Endre Berner and Carl Jacob Arnholm were sent to Grini concentration camp. Arnholm was first incarcerated at Bredtveit from 15 October to 22 November, then at Berg until 8 December, then at Grini until 5 May 1945. He became a Christian during his time as a prisoner.Arnholm was also a "judicial advisor" in the association Norwegian Brewers from 1933 to 1968, and was an Acting Supreme Court Justice in several periods between 1935 and 1939. He was elected as a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters in 1936, and held honorary degrees at Stockholm College (1957) and the University of Copenhagen (1959). He was appointed as a Commander of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav in 1961, and a Commander of the Order of the Dannebrog and a Commander of the Order of the Polar Star. He died in September 1976 in Oslo.
