Amédée-Ernest Bollée (11 January 1844 – 20 January 1917) was a French bellfounder and inventor who specialized in steam cars. After 1867 he was known as "Amédée père" to distinguish him from his similarly named son, Amédée-Ernest-Marie Bollée (1867–1926).
Guy Hascoët (born February 29, 1960, in Le Mans, Sarthe) is a French politician and a member of The Greens-Europe Écologie.
He was a major negotiator in the deal between the Greens and the PS which gave the Green Marie-Christine Blandin the presidency of the Nord-Pas-de-Calais region in 1992.
In the 1997 election, he became deputy for the Nord and became Secretary of State for the solidary economy in the Lionel Jospin cabinet in 2000. He later became a close ally of Lionel Jospin within the Greens, many of whom had grown uneasy with Jospin - notably Dominique Voynet.
In 2009, he was selected to be the leader of The Greens-Europe Écologie's list in Brittany for the 2010 regional elections. With 17,37% of the votes in the second term, he's elected in the regional council of Brittany
Roseline Vachetta (born 12 December 1951 in Le Mans) is a French Trotskyist politician.
She became a member of the Revolutionary Communist League (LCR) and in 1999 was elected to the European Parliament. She lost her seat in 2004, but remained one of the LCR's three spokespersons until the party was dissolved in February 2009.
Claire Gibault (born 31 October 1945 in Le Mans) is a French conductor and politician and a Member of the European Parliament for the south-east of France. She is a member of the Union for French Democracy, which is part of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, and sits on the European Parliament's Committee on Culture and Education and its Committee on Women's Rights and Gender Equality.
She is also a member of the delegation to the EU–Bulgaria Joint Parliamentary Committee and a substitute for the delegation for relations with Japan.
Emmanuel Monick (January 10, 1893, in Le Mans, France – December 23, 1983?) was a French politician and banker. He was appointed Governor of the Banque de France during the liberation of France at the end of World War II, replacing Yves Bréart de Boisanger, Inspector of Finance in Vichy France.
As the Secretary General of Finance in the Provisional Government of the French Republic from August 29 to September 4, 1944, he had to decide what to do about the gold that the Nazi Party requisitioned from the National Bank of Belgium following the Second Armistice at Compiègne in 1940, which they later sold to the Swiss National Bank.The 220 tonnes of gold were repaid to the National Bank of Belgium at the end of 1944 from the Banque de France's own reserves. Monick negotiated the recovery for the Banque de France of 90 tonnes of gold and 250 million Swiss francs.

François d'Astier de La Vigerie (7 March 1886 – 9 October 1956) was a French military leader during two World Wars.His family were from Vivarais, and were ennobled in 1829 under the French Restoration. His father, le baron Raoul d'Astier de La Vigerie, was an artillery officer, and his mother, Jeanne, née Masson-Bachasson de Montalivet, was the granddaughter of Camille, comte de Montalivet, who had been Minister of the Interior under Louis-Philippe I of France. François d’Astier was brought up partly in Paris and partly at the Château de Rançay at Niherne.
