Erica Malunguinho da Silva (born 20 November 1981 in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil) is a Brazilian politician elected into the Legislative Assembly of São Paulo on 7 October 2018 after receiving around 54,400 votes. She made history by being the first transgender person to be elected to a Brazilian state legislature. Malunguinho created the urban quilombo Aparelha Luzia, a black cultural space that brings people of African descent together in solidarity, and is also a space for art, discussion, and performances surrounding the idea of blackness and black culture.
Shortly after high school, Malunguinho moved to São Paulo and began to embrace her transgender identity through her official transition. After graduating from University of São Paulo, she spent time working as an artist, activist, and educator. Malunguinho's election platform had five major features: Political Renewal, Enlargement of the Debate, the idea of the Quilombo, Fundamental Rights, and Political Challenges.

Túlio Gadêlha Sales de Melo (born 12 November 1987) is a Brazilian politician. A member of the party Rede Sustentabilidade (REDE), he has served as a federal deputy for Pernambuco since 2019.

João José Pereira de Lyra (17 June 1931 – 12 August 2021) was a Brazilian businessman and politician.

Fernando Lyra (8 October 1938 – 14 February 2013) was a Brazilian politician who served as Minister of Justice from 1985 to 1986. Born in Recife in 1938, Lyra died in São Paulo on 14 February 2013, at the age of 74.

Luciano Caldas Bivar (born 29 November 1944) is a Brazilian politician and businessman. He is current a Deputy for Pernambuco as well as leader of the Brazil Union. Previously he was Social Liberal Party presidential candidate for the 2006 Brazilian general election. He received 0.06% of the total vote and did not progress to the second round. He was President of the Social Liberal Party from 2018 until it merged with the Democrats to become the Brazil Union.
Born in Recife, Bivar was the president of Sport Club do Recife from 1989 to 1990, from 1997 to 2001, from 2005 to 2006, and in 2013.

Raul Belens Jungmann Pinto (born 3 April 1952 in Recife) is a Brazilian business consultant and politician. He served as minister of agrarian development under former president Fernando Henrique Cardoso and federal deputy for the state of Pernambuco. He was the Minister of Defence from May 2016 to February 2018, appointed by then-acting president Michel Temer. On 27 February 2018, Jungmann was confirmed as Minister of the Public Security.He was appointed CEO of the Brazilian Mining Institute (IBRAM) in March 2022.

Paulo Henrique Saraiva Câmara (born August 8, 1972, in Recife) is a Brazilian politician who served as governor of Pernambuco from 2015 to 2023. He became Governor of Pernambuco on January 1, 2015.
