Leif Øgaard (born 5 January 1952) is a Norwegian chess player. He is the ninth Norwegian to achieve the title of Grandmaster. Øgaard won the Norwegian Chess Championship five times, in 1974, 1975, 1979, 1985 and 1993. He gained his IM title in 1974. In 1981 and 1982, Øgaard won two tournaments at Gausdal, each netting him a GM-norm. His third and final GM-norm was won in the Norwegian team chess championship in 2006–2007, making him the very first person to score 2 GM norms with a 25-year gap in-between as well as one of the oldest players to be awarded the Grandmaster title, since his last norm came when he was already in the mid 60's. The GM title was finally approved at FIDE's presidential board meeting in Tallinn on 22–24 June 2007. Øgaard is a member of the Oslo chess club Oslo Schackselskap.

Thomas Dwan Jr. (born July 30, 1986) is an American professional poker player who played online in the highest-stakes No-Limit Texas hold 'em and Pot-Limit Omaha games, primarily on Full Tilt Poker under the screen name "durrrr". Dwan has won prize money in live poker tournaments and has appeared on NBC's National Heads-Up Poker Championship, the fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh seasons of Poker After Dark, the third, fourth, and fifth seasons of Full Tilt Poker's Million Dollar Cash Game, and the fifth, sixth, eighth and ninth seasons of GSN's High Stakes Poker.

Cristhian Cruz Sánchez (born 7 February 1992) is a Peruvian chess player who received the FIDE title of Grandmaster (GM) in September 2012.

Malcolm Katzenstein Brachman (December 9, 1926 – January 11, 2005) was an American bridge player who won a world championship.Brachman was born in Fort Worth, Texas.Brachman was married to Minda Delugach Brachman, a high-ranking player in the ACBL who won its annual mixed teams championship (Master Mixed Teams) in 1968 playing with Helen Sobel Smith, Oswald Jacoby, and Jim Jacoby. She died on March 19, 2003.He graduated from Yale University (BA) and Harvard University (Ph.D. physics), and later instructed at the University of Chicago and Southern Methodist University.

Faraz Jaka (born September 9, 1985, in San Jose, California) is an American professional poker player and businessman who was World Poker Tour (WPT) Player of the Year for Season VIII (2009–2010). He has reached two WPT final tables, six WSOP final tables and his lifetime tournament winnings exceed $10 million. Jaka is also behind Checkraise, a new poker site to be launched in the Brazilian market in 2017.

Jan Willem te Kolsté (11 September 1874, in Utrecht – 31 January 1936, in The Hague) was a Dutch chess master.
Te Kolsté participated many times in unofficial and official Dutch championships, and won at Utrecht 1907. He also took 4th at Utrecht 1897 (Rudolf Loman won), tied for 5-6th at The Hague 1898 (Jan Diderik Tresling won), took 14th at Amsterdam 1899 (Henry Ernest Atkins won), took 10th at Haarlem 1901 (Adolf Georg Olland won), took 2nd behind Arnold van Foreest at Rotterdam 1902, tied for 7-9th at Hilversum 1903 (Paul Saladin Leonhardt won), tied for 9-10th at Scheveningen 1905 (Frank James Marshall won), took 3rd at Haarlem 1908 (Johannes Esser won), shared 3rd at Delft 1912 (Loman won), took 4th at The Hague 1919 (Max Marchand won), and took 5th at Nijmegen 1921 (Max Euwe won).In other tournaments, he won at The Hague 1904, tied for 2nd-3rd at Amsterdam 1907, tied for 6-7th at Scheveningen 1913, shared 1st at The Hague 1917 and s' Hertogenbosch 1918, won at The Hague 1922, shared 1st at Amsterdam 1927, but came a distant last at Baden-Baden 1925 (Alexander Alekhine won),.He played for The Netherlands in 1st Chess Olympiad at London 1927.

Herman Hoogland (October 31, 1891 in Utrecht- November 25, 1955 in Utrecht) was the first draughts (also known as "checkers") world-champion from the Netherlands. He dominated the game for over a decade and became a leading student of it. He began playing the game seriously in 1908 at age seventeen. In 1912 he became world champion for the first time. From 1923 onward he became an advocate for a different way of playing the game.
