Luc_Van_den_Bossche

Luc Van den Bossche (born 16 September 1947, in Aalst, Belgium) is a Belgian socialist politician and father of Freya Van den Bossche.He graduated as a doctor in law at the University of Ghent in 1970. Luc Van den Bossche was a Member of Parliament for a number of years and cabinet member in several federal and regional governments in Belgium. Currently he is chairman of the Brussels International Airport Company and of the Associatie UGent, as well as board member in several companies. He is a member of the advisory board of the Itinera Institute think-tank.

Patrick_Dewael

Patrick Yvonne Hugo Dewael, (Dutch: [ˈpɑtrɪg dəˈʋaːl]; born 13 October 1955) is a liberal Belgian politician. A member of the Flemish Liberals and Democrats (Vlaamse Liberalen en Democraten, VLD), he served as Minister-President of Flanders from 1999 to 2003.
He is the nephew of the late Herman Vanderpoorten and the cousin of Marleen Vanderpoorten, who served as Minister of Education in the Flemish Government led by Dewael. He obtained a degree in law and notariat from the Vrije Universiteit Brussel in Brussels. Dewael served as the President of the Chamber of Representatives from 2019 to 2020 and previously from 2008 to 2010.

Valerius_de_Saedeleer

Valerius de Saedeleer or Valerius De Saedeleer (4 August 1867 – 16 September 1941) was a Belgian landscape painter, whose works are informed by a Symbolist and mystic-religious sensitivity and the traditions of 16th-century Flemish landscape painting. He was one of the main figures in the so-called first School of Latem which in the first decade of the 20th century introduced modernist trends in Belgian painting and sculpture.

Luc_Luycx

Luc Luycx (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlyk ˈlœy̯ks]; born 11 April 1958) is the designer of the common side of the euro coins.Luycx is a computer engineer and medallist. He was born in Aalst, Belgium and now lives in Dendermonde. Luycx worked for the Royal Belgian Mint. He designed the euro coins in 1996. His signature on all euro coins is visible as two L letters connected together (LL). On the 2-euro coin, this is visible under the O of the word EURO on the common side.

Victor_Desguin

Victor Desguin (French: [desgɛ̃]; 30 January 1838 – 8 July 1919) was a Belgian liberal politician.
He was a popular alderman of the city of Antwerp in charge of education and municipal schools at the end of the 19th century. He was twice acting mayor of Antwerp, but was never appointed mayor of the city.
Desguin was born on 30 January 1838. He became alderman of the city of Antwerp in 1892, responsible for education and schooling. He built libraries and schools.
He became acting mayor in 1906, when mayor Jan Van Rijswijck withdrew from office due to illness. Desguin was a member of the liberal party, and because of this, the Catholic government did not want him appointed as mayor. Instead Peter Hertogs became mayor.
When Peter Hertogs died in office in 1908, Desguin became acting mayor again, and for the second time somebody else became mayor instead of him. Jan De Vos was appointed mayor.
During the chaotic days of October 1914, Desguin organised the Antwerpsch Komiteit voor Hulp (Antwerp Relief Committee), a relief organisation for war victims.
Desguin never got the opportunity of becoming mayor; he died on 8 July 1919.

François_Crépin

François Crépin (30 October 1830 – 30 April 1903) was an important botanist of the 19th century and director of the National Botanic Garden of Belgium.
Crépin was born in Rochefort, Belgium. The genus Crepinella (Araliaceae) is named after him. As a taxonomist he circumscribed numerous plants within the genus Rosa. He died in Brussels.
His Belgian herbarium and his herbier des roses are kept in the collections of the Botanic Garden Meise.
