Paul Frédéric Joseph Fourmarier (1877—1970) was a Belgian geologist and specialist in tectonics and stratigraphy, after whom the Fourmarierite mineral is named.Fourmarier was born in La Hulpe, Province of Brabant, Belgium and studied at the University of Liège, graduating in 1899. He became a professor of geology at the university in 1920.He won the Wollaston Medal in 1957 and the Penrose Gold Medal in 1952.
Frans-H. van den Dungen (1898–1965) was a Belgian scientist and professor at the Universite Libre de Bruxelles. In 1946 he was awarded the Francqui Prize on Exact Sciences.
Among his students was the mathematician Paul Dedecker.
Célestin Alfred Cogniaux (7 April 1841 – 15 April 1916) was a Belgian botanist. Amongst other plants, the genus Neocogniauxia of orchids is named after him.
In 1916 his enormous private herbarium was acquired by the National Botanic Garden of Belgium.
Jean Baptiste Carnoy (11 January 1836 – 6 September 1899), born in Rumillies (Belgium), was a Roman Catholic priest and a scientist in the field of cytology. He made the initial explanation of the real nature of the albuminoid membrane, and conducted noted experiments on cellular segmentation.
