Per_Thomas_Andersen

Per Thomas Andersen (8 February 1954 - 13 December 2023) was a Norwegian literary historian and novelist.
He was appointed professor at the University of Tromsø from 1992, and at the University of Oslo from 1993. His thesis from 1992 treated the decadence of Scandinavian literature of the period from 1880 to 1900. Among his other scientific works are Stein Mehren – en logosdikter from 1982, Norsk litteraturhistorie from 2001, and Tankevaser from 2003. He published the novels Hold in 1985 and Arr in 1992. He was a fellow of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters. In 2023 he received the King's Medal of Merit.

Dagne_Groven_Myhren

Dagne Groven Myhren (born 1940) is a Norwegian literature researcher, folk musician and educator. Her literary studies have included significant works on Henrik Wergeland (earning her a PhD) and on Norwegian folk poetry. As a singer, she has focused on the traditional songs of Telemark, frequently contributing to radio programmes. Until her retirement in 2003, she was professor of Nordic Studies at the University of Oslo.

Anton_Jervell

Anton Jervell (14 June 1901 – 29 December 1987) was a Norwegian physician, politician and organizational leader.
He was born in Kristiania, a son of tax man Jakob Anton Jervell and Marie Andrea Simers. He graduated as cand.med. in 1925, and as dr. med. in 1936. He served as manager of the Vestfold Hospital from 1947. He was appointed professor at the University of Oslo, serving from 1957 to 1971. His research was primarily on heart diseases. He was decorated Knight of the Order of St. Olav in 1967.

Kjell_Lars_Berge

Kjell Lars Berge (born 23 December 1957) is a Norwegian text linguist.
He graduated from the University of Oslo with a cand.philol. degree in 1985. From 1987 to 1992 he was a lecturer in Norwegian language and literature at Stockholm University. He was then a research fellow at the University of Trondheim from 1992 to 1995, and took the doctorate at that institution in 1996. However, already from 1995 he had been an associate professor of text linguistics at the University of Oslo. He was promoted to professor in 1997. In addition to text linguistics, his special fields are semiotics and rhetoric. In 2009 he was given an honorary degree at the Örebro University.Berge was the chair of the Norwegian Non-Fiction Writers and Translators Association from 2005 to 2008.

Arne_Johan_Vetlesen

Arne Johan Vetlesen (born 10 September 1960) is a Norwegian professor of philosophy at the University of Oslo, who concentrates on the topic of ethics, environmental philosophy and social philosophy.
He took the cand.mag. (similar to BA) degree in sociology and anthropology, before studying at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University Frankfurt am Main from 1985 to 1990 under the guidance of Jürgen Habermas. He took the dr.philos. degree at the University of Oslo in 1993. Before becoming a full professor at the University of Oslo in 1998, Vetlesen worked as a research fellow and associate professor. He is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.Vetlesen works interdisciplinary, often combining his philosophical theses with insights from psychology, sociology and anthropology. He is the author of more than twenty books on diverse topics such as environmental philosophy, moral philosophy, hermeneutics and psychoanalysis, social philosophy, consumerism and capitalism. His books in English include Cosmologies of the Anthropocene (2019), The Denial of Nature (2015), A Philosophy of Pain (2009), Evil and Human Agency (2005), Perception, Empathy, and Judgment (1994), and Closeness (1997).

Andreas_Arntzen_(barrister)

Andreas Arntzen (1 June 1928 – 21 May 2012) was a Norwegian barrister.
He was a son of Sven Arntzen and father of presiding judge Wenche Elizabeth Arntzen.He took the cand.jur. degree in 1952, studied at Harvard Law School and was a lecturer at the Faculty of Law, University of Oslo. In 1960 he became a barrister with access to work with Supreme Court cases. He was hired in the law firm founded by his father, today named Arntzen de Besche. He is best known as the defender of Arne Treholt in 1984–1985, together with Jon Lyng and Ulf Underland. From 1987 to 1989 he led the commission that delivered the Norwegian Official Report 1989: 2, scrutinizing the bankruptcy of Kongsberg Våpenfabrikk. He died in May 2012.

Thomas_Hylland_Eriksen

Thomas Hylland Eriksen (born February 6, 1962) is a Norwegian anthropologist. He is currently a professor of social anthropology at the University of Oslo, as well as the 2015–2016 president of the European Association of Social Anthropologists. He is a member of the Norwegian Academy of Science and Letters.

Lasse_Qvigstad

Lars Fredrik "Lasse" Qvigstad (born 2 February 1946) is a Norwegian jurist.
He was born in Oslo. He worked as a lecturer at the University of Oslo from 1972 to 1975, public prosecutor in Eidsivating from 1977 to 1987, deputy chief of police in Oslo from 1987 to 1991 and presiding judge in Eidsivating from 1991 to 1993. He then returned to the position as public prosecutor, on a national level.

Kari_Vogt

Kari Vogt (born 3 April 1939) is a Norwegian religious historian. She has written several books, and been a board member of the Norwegian Academy of Literature and Freedom of Expression, and of the Norwegian chapter of PEN International.

Toril_Marie_Øie

Toril Marie Øie (born 17 July 1960) is Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Norway.
She was born in Oslo, and graduated as cand.jur. in 1986. She worked in the Ministry of Justice and the Police from 1986 to 2006, except for the period 1988 to 1990 when she was an acting district stipendiary magistrate. From 1994 she was also a part-time university lector at University of Oslo. She was a Supreme Court Justice from 2004 to 2016.
