Henri Louis Tolain (18 June 1828, Paris – 4 May 1897, Paris), was a leading member of the French trade union and socialist movement and a founding member of the First International and follower of Proudhon.

Albert Thomas (16 June 1878 – 7 May 1932) was a prominent French Socialist and the first Minister of Armament for the French Third Republic during World War I. Following the Treaty of Versailles, he was nominated as the first Director General of the International Labour Office, a position he held until his death in 1932. As Director-General, he was succeeded by Harold Butler.

He was born in Saverne, and died aged 69 of a heart attack in Haguenau.
He was a graduate of the College of Europe in Bruges (promotion of 1965–1966).
Jacques Auxiette (3 December 1940 – 10 December 2021) was a French politician, and was the Regional Council President for the Pays de la Loire region in France. Auxiette was president between 2004 and 2015, and was re-elected to the office in the March 2010 council elections. He was a member of the Socialist Party.He was one of the strongest opponents of the reunification of Loire-Atlantique to its historical region, Brittany.
