NRK people

Carl Frederik Prytz (23 September 1922 – 5 March 2002) was a Norwegian poet, novelist, essayist, playwright, translator, radio personality and literary critic.
He was born in Aker to civil servant Leonard Christian Prytz and painter Ellen Marie Jensen, and was nephew of goldsmith Eiler Hagerup Krog Prytz, Jr. and Fascist politician Frederik Prytz. He made his literary debut in 1945 with the poetry collection Da senker jeg mine våpen. He was literary critic for the newspaper Aftenposten from 1947 to 1955, and radio presenter for NRK from 1951 to 1955. In 1956 he published the essay collection Tretten norske lyrikere. Among his novels are De vindskeive from 1979, Mannen som hadde rett from 1982, and Skjulestedet from 1984.

Mentz Schulerud (19 October 1915 – 18 May 2003) was a Norwegian author, radio personality and theatre director. He was known for his encyclopaedic knowledge of the city of Oslo.
Schulerud was born in Kristiania, but grew up in Rena, Lillehammer and Ringsaker as the older brother of the famous children's book author Anne-Cath. Vestly. Schulerud took his cand.mag. degree in 1941. During the German occupation of Norway he was involved in a Norwegian resistance group called 830-S. For his work in the Norwegian illegal press, he was incarcerated at Grini concentration camp in 1944.After the war, was hired as programme secretary in the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, in 1946. He was later subeditor from 1959 to 1962. During this period he also worked as editor-in-chief of the literary magazine Vinduet from 1959 to 1963. In 1962 he left the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation to become director of Oslo Nye Teater. Through his numerous radio programmes, articles and books, he vividly conveyed the history of the capital with anecdotes and biographical scetches, particularly relating to its artistic life. A Riksmål proponent, Schulerud chaired the organization Riksmålsvernet for a period, and was later a member of the Norwegian Academy for Language and Literature.Schulerud was decorated as Knight, First Class of the Royal Norwegian Order of St. Olav.Mentz Schulerud was the father of Ingrid Schulerud, who married Norwegian Prime Minister Jens Stoltenberg.

Hans Heiberg (28 January 1904 – 6 December 1978) was a Norwegian journalist, literary critic, theatre critic, essayist, novelist, playwright, translator and theatre director.

Erik Tangevald Diesen (8 October 1922 – 13 September 1999) was a Norwegian revue writer and radio and television personality.

Finn-Erik Vinje (born 6 March 1936) is a Norwegian philologist. He was a professor at the University of Trondheim from 1971 to 1975, and at the University of Oslo from 1975 to 2006. He was a language consultant for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation from 1971 to 1992. He has written several books on language-related questions.

Knut Bjørnsen (26 July 1932 – 14 November 2008) was a sports commentator and journalist for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation.
In his youth, Bjørnsen was a promising speed skater. He was junior Norwegian champion in 1951. He worked for the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation between 1961 and 1991, and was NRK's main commentator for speed skating most of those years, together with fellow NRK veteran journalist Per Jorsett. He also hosted the popular Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation game show Kvitt eller dobbelt ("Double or Nothing") for many years. In 1991, Bjørnsen left the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, and began working for cable channel TV3, where he hosted the game show Lykkehjulet (a Norwegian adaptation of Wheel of Fortune).In his later years, he spoke out as a supporter of the Progress Party, having lost his confidence in the Conservative Party.In April 2008, Bjørnsen was diagnosed with terminal pancreatic cancer, and he died from the illness seven months later, on 14 November 2008.

Pål Bang-Hansen (29 July 1937 – 25 March 2010) was a Norwegian actor, film director, screenwriter and film critic. He is particularly known as a television personality and film expert at the Norwegian Broadcasting Corporation, leading the television film show Filmmagasinet for more than thirty years.

Vidar Leif Theisen (5 May 1933 – 30 August 2012) was a Norwegian meteorologist, known for his nasal speech and lack of tonal variation during his presentations of the weather forecast. This uncommon speech pattern made him a cult star in Norway, even after his retirement.

Rolf Kirkvaag (20 September 1920 – 24 January 2003) was a Norwegian journalist, and a radio- and TV personality. He worked for NRK, the Norwegian state broadcasting network, between 1947 and 1959, and 1969 and 1990. From 1972 to 1985 he was entertainment director.Already a popular public persona, his fame grew enormously after an incident in 1956. Kirkvaag was among the passengers on a Braathens SAFE plane that crashed by Hommelfjell, the Hummelfjell Accident. Two people were dead and ten still alive. Kirkvaag – with a broken bone in his foot – and another passenger had to walk 18 km (11 mi) for help. The incident made Kirkvaag a national hero, and he has since been referred to as Norway's first celebrity.Among the shows he hosted were the children's show Titten Tei and the radio quiz show 20 spørsmål (20 Questions). He was also a commentator for numerous sporting events, like the 1952 Winter Olympics. Rolf Kirkvaag's son, Trond Kirkvaag, was a well-known television comedian. Trond, who died in 2007, wrote a controversial biography of his father shortly before his own death. Here he described Rolf's darker side, and alleged that he had been an emotionally distant and occasionally violent father.
