Chocolat_Poulain

Chocolat Poulain (French pronunciation: [ʃɔkɔla pulɛ̃]) is one of the oldest chocolate brands in France. It is known particularly for its bars of eating- and cooking-chocolate, as well as its Poulain Orange product, which is a chocolate drink mix. The icon of the brand is a jumping foal, which is a wordplay on the creator's name "Poulain", which is French for foal.
Victor-Auguste Poulain began the mass production of chocolate in 1848 in Blois, France, before forming a limited company in 1893. He believed that a commercial future in chocolate would be found by selling to the masses and was innovative in industrialising the production of chocolate and in widespread marketing campaigns targeting children and families. In 1975, Chocolat Poulain was the sponsor of the mountains classification in the Tour de France when its distinctive polka jersey was introduced; the jersey's design was based on the jersey of the pre-War cyclist Henri Lemoine and later, due to its popularity, the design was adopted for wrapping of their chocolate bars.The company was bought by Cadbury Schweppes in 1988. It was sold to Kraft Food in 2010 (later Mondelēz International) and since 2017 belongs to Eurazeo.

Curnonsky

Maurice Edmond Sailland (October 12, 1872, in Angers, France – July 22, 1956, in Paris), better known by his pen-name Curnonsky (nicknamed 'Cur'), and dubbed the Prince of Gastronomy, was one of the most celebrated writers on gastronomy in France in the 20th century. He wrote or ghost-wrote many books in diverse genres and many newspaper columns. He is often considered the inventor of gastronomic motor-tourism as popularized by Michelin, though he himself could not drive. He was a student of Henri-Paul Pellaprat.

Christian_Millau

Christian Dubois-Millot, pen name Christian Millau (French pronunciation: [kʁistjɑ̃ mijo], 30 December 1928 – 5 August 2017), was a French food critic and author.
Born in Paris, he began his career as a journalist in the "interior policy" department of Le Monde newspaper. In 1965 he founded the Gault Millau restaurant guide Le Nouveau Guide with Henri Gault and André Gayot. He launched the famed Gault & Millau guide in 1969 with Henri Gault, which helped galvanise the movement of young French chefs developing lighter, more inventive and beautiful looking dishes. Some 100,000 copies of the guide were sold that year. He was originally slated to be one of the judges at the historic Judgment of Paris wine tasting event of 1976 but was replaced by his brother Claude Dubois-Millot.His friends announced his death on 7 August 2017 at the age of 88.
