Gabriel Péri (Peri) (9 February 1902 — 15 December 1941) was a prominent French communist journalist and politician who was a member of the French Resistance. He was executed in German-occupied France during the Second World War.

Georges Cogniot (15 December 1901 in Montigny-lès-Cherlieu, Haute-Saône – 12 March 1978) was a French writer, philosopher and politician of the French Communist Party.

René Andrieu (Beauregard, 1920–1998) was a French Communist Resistance fighter, journalist and politician. He served in the Francs-Tireurs et Partisans during World War II, and headed the Communist newspaper l'Humanité from 1958 to 1984. He was also part of the Central Committee of the French Communist Party.

Jacqueline Fraysse-Cazalis (born 25 February 1947, in Paris) is a French cardiologist and politician. A member of the French Communist Party, she served in the National Assembly of France, from 1978 to 1986, as a Senator from 1986 to 1997, and in the National Assembly again from 1997 to 2017, as a member of the French Communist Party, in the Gauche démocrate et républicaine parliamentary group.Fraysse has also served in various capacities for the town of Nanterre, whose mayor she was from 1988 until 2004.In her capacity as mayor, Fraysse was overseeing a meeting of the Nanterre municipal council on 26 March 2002 when Richard Durn opened fire on the group, killing eight and wounding nineteen.

Charles Fiterman (born 28 December 1933) is a French politician. He served as Minister of Transport from 1981 to 1984, under former President François Mitterrand. He was originally a high-ranking member of the French Communist Party, but joined the Socialist Party in 1998. In 2017, he announced in Le Monde that he had left the Socialist Party.

Jacques Piette (13 May 1916, in Issy-les-Moulineaux – 2 April 1990) was a French politician. He represented the French Section of the Workers' International (SFIO) in the National Assembly from 1956 to 1958.

Marcel Cachin (20 September 1869 – 12 February 1958) was a French Communist politician and editor of the daily newspaper L'Humanite.
