Cecil_D._Andrus

Cecil Dale Andrus (August 25, 1931 – August 24, 2017) was an American politician who served as 26th and 28th governor of Idaho, for a total of fourteen years. A Democrat, he also served as U.S. Secretary of the Interior from 1977 to 1981 during the Carter Administration. Andrus lost his first gubernatorial election in 1966 but won four (in 1970, 1974, 1986, and 1990) and his fourteen years as governor is the most in state history. He is the most recent Democrat to have held the office.
In public life, Andrus was noted for his strong conservationist and environmental views and accomplishments, and an Idaho wildlife preserve established in 1993 in Washington County is named the Cecil D. Andrus Wildlife Management Area in his honor. In 2018, the Cecil D. Andrus–White Clouds Wilderness was renamed after him. A political liberal, he protected the environment by minimizing the control of business interests held over the public domain and by concentrating decision-making in the hands of experts in the Interior Department. He argued that environmentalism can and must coexist with positive economic development.

Mário Alberto Nobre Lopes Soares (Portuguese pronunciation: [ˈmaɾju alˈβɛɾtu ˈnɔβɾɨ ˈlɔpɨʃ suˈaɾɨʃ]; 7 December 1924 – 7 January 2017) was a Portuguese politician, who served as prime minister of Portugal from 1976 to 1978 and from 1983 to 1985, and subsequently as the 17th president of Portugal from 1986 to 1996. He was the first secretary-general of the Socialist Party, from its foundation in 1973 to 1986. A major political figure in Portugal, he is considered the father of Portuguese democracy.

George Hugh Niederauer (June 14, 1936 – May 2, 2017) was an American bishop of the Roman Catholic Church. He was the Archbishop of San Francisco. Before that, Niederauer served as Bishop of Salt Lake City from 1994 to 2005.

Aline_Nistad

Aline Nistad (August 24, 1954 – September 23, 2017) was a Norwegian trombonist and music educator. As a female trombonist, she was considered a pioneer in her field.She was born in Oslo and grew up in Aurskog-Høland. Nistad was taught to play piano at home by her mother but the trombone became her instrument of choice at school. She studied at the Østlandets Musikkonservatorium and the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. In 1979, she joined the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, where she was principal trombone. From 1986 to 1989, Nistad served as chairman for the orchestra. She was a member of the Oslo Sinfonietta, a contemporary classical music ensemble. Nistad retired from the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra in August 2016. She taught trombone and chamber music at the Norwegian Academy of Music. Nistad also held master classes and was a guest instructor in Norway and internationally, particularly in the United Kingdom.She died of cancer at the age of 63.

Henning Kramer Dahl (29 April 1962 – 7 March 2017) was a Norwegian poet, essayist and translator.
Dahl was born in Oslo. He made his literary debut in 1983 with the poetry collection Barfrost, with poems rich in spiritual metaphors. His next collections, Dansestykker for legeme og stillhet (1984) and Et annet rom et annet hjerte (1987), contain love poems and poems about nature. In 1989 he published the satirical collection Hvite lam. Later collections are Solsikkemuskel (1991), Værhårmusikk (1995), Hundehymner, benhuspoesi (2000) and Månen er borte (2003). His essay collection Tiden leger alle sår was published in 1996. He has translated poetry into Norwegian language, including works of Leonard Cohen, Sylvia Plath, Fernando Pessoa and Derek Walcott.He resided at Stabekk. He died from heart failure in March 2017.

Bjarne_Arentz

Bjarne Arentz (2 December 1928 – 19 February 2017) was a Norwegian alpine skier. He was born in Oslo on 2 December 1928. Arentz participated at the 1948 Winter Olympics in Saint Moritz, where he competed in downhill, slalom and alpine combined. He became Norwegian champion in alpine combined in 1946. Arentz died in Oslo on 19 February 2017, at the age of 88.

Runa Førde (24 February 1933 – 28 July 2017) was a Norwegian painter, illustrator and graphic artist.
She was born in Oslo to Inger Else Johanne Steenberg and Sverre Førde. She studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry and at the Norwegian National Academy of Fine Arts. She has illustrated several children's books and readers for elementary school. She is represented at the National Gallery of Norway, Riksgalleriet, the National Gallery of Denmark, and in galleries in Beijing and the Faroe Islands.

Antônio de Souza Mendes Neto (30 April 1954 – 18 January 2017), better known as Toninho Mendes, was a Brazilian editor. He started working in the 1960s, going through several publishers and alternative newspapers, such as Movimento and Versus. In 1984, Mendes founded Circo Editorial, considered the most important Brazilian publishing house of alternative comics in the 1980s and 1990s. Circo featured artists such as Laerte, Angeli and Glauco, among other important names in the Brazilian underground comics that achieved prominence in the publications published by Mendes. The story of Circo publishing house was told by Mendes himself in the book Humor Paulistano: a experiência da Circo Editorial, 1984-1985, which won the Troféu HQ Mix in 2015 in two categories: "Best Theoretical Book" and "Best Editorial Project". Mendes also won the Troféu HQ Mix in 2011 in "Best Erotic Publication" category for Quadrinhos Sacanas, a collection organized by him which published anonymous erotic comics created between the 1950s and 1980s.

William Duborgh Jensen (10 May 1935 – 24 May 2017) was a Norwegian fashion and costume designer.
William was first known as a fashion designer; he was Norway's first "haute couturier" with his own collection in 1958. He later worked in television and film as a costume designer.He was appointed as a Knight, First Class of the Order of St. Olav in 2006 for his efforts in fashion design.William died at the age of 82.
