Ernst Jäckh (February 22, 1875 – August 17, 1959) was a German journalist, diplomat, author, and academic who later lived in Great Britain and the United States. He is most known for having advocated for first Germany, and then the United States, having better relations with Turkey. He was the founder and leader of the Deutsche Hochschule für Politik in Berlin from 1920 to 1933.

Karl Gustav Vollmöller (or Vollmoeller; 7 May 1878 – 18 October 1948) was a German philologist, archaeologist, poet, playwright, screenwriter, and aircraft designer. He is most famous for the elaborate religious spectacle-pantomime The Miracle and the screenplay for the celebrated 1930 film The Blue Angel (Der blaue Engel), which made a star of Marlene Dietrich.

Eberhard Nestle (1 May 1851, Stuttgart – 9 March 1913, Stuttgart) was a German biblical scholar, textual critic, orientalist, editor of the Novum Testamentum Graece, and the father of Erwin Nestle.

Ernst von Herzog (23 November 1834, Esslingen am Neckar – 16 November 1911) was a German classical philologist and archaeologist, who as an expert in the field of Roman epigraphy.
He studied theology and classical philology at the University of Tübingen, and afterwards continued his education at the University of Munich. From 1857 he worked as a tutor in Paris, then studied archaeology at Berlin, followed by research at the German Archaeological Institute in Rome. In 1861 he conducted studies of ancient Roman inscriptions in southern France. In 1862 he obtained his habilitation for classical philology at Tübingen, where in 1867 he became an associate professor, followed by a full professorship in classical philology in 1874. Herzog was a prominent member of the Reichs-Limeskommission (German Limes Commission) and of the Römisch-Germanische Kommission des Deutschen Archäologischen Instituts (Roman-Germanic Commission of the German Archaeological Institute).As a result of his scientific research in France, he published a book on the history of Gallia Narbonensis titled "Galliae narbonensi Commis provinciae Romanae historia descriptio institutorum expositio" (1864). In his studies associated with Limes Germanicus, he conducted archaeological excavations at several sites in Württemberg — Rottenburg am Neckar (1883–84), near Öhringen (1892), and Mainhardt and Jagsthausen (1893).He was the author of a well-received work on the history and structure of the Roman Constitution, titled "Geschichte und system der Römischen Staatsverfassung" (2 volumes; 1884, 1891). In 1871 he published "Untersuchungen über die bildungsgeschichte der griechischen und lateinischen sprache" (Studies on the educational history of Greek and Latin languages).

Paul Thieme (German: [paʊl ˈtiːmə]; 18 March 1905 – 24 April 2001) was a German Indologist and scholar of Vedic Sanskrit. In 1988 he was awarded the Kyoto Prize in Arts and Philosophy for "he added immensely to our knowledge of Vedic and other classical Indian literature and provided a solid foundation to the study of the history of Indian thought".

Alleen Pace Nilsen is an American literary scholar, linguist, and one of the pioneers of both humor studies and children's literature studies. She is Professor Emeritus in the Department of English at Arizona State University, where she was previously the director of the English Education Program.
Together with her husband Don Nilsen, she co-founded the International Society for Humor Studies.

Wolfgang Schadewaldt (15 March 1900 in Berlin – 10 November 1974 in Tübingen) was a German classical philologist working mostly in the field of Greek philology and a translator. He also was a professor of University of Tübingen and University of Freiburg.

Mary Rosamond Haas (January 23, 1910 – May 17, 1996) was an American linguist who specialized in North American Indian languages, Thai, and historical linguistics. She served as president of the Linguistic Society of America. She was elected a fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a member of the National Academy of Sciences.
