Raúl R. Salinas (March 17, 1934 - February 13, 2008), better known by his pen name raúlrsalinas, was a Chicano pinto poet, memoirist, social activist, and prison journalist. Much of raúlrsalinas' writing was grounded in arguments for social justice and human rights. He was an early pioneer of Chicano pinto (prisoner) poetry and is notable for his use of vernacular, bilingual, and free verse aesthetics.Alongside Ricardo Sánchez, Judy Lucero, Luis Talamantez, and Jimmy Santiago Baca, raúlrsalinas sought to make prisoners' rights a more central focus of the Chicano Movement. Incarcerated for over a decade (1959–1972) for carrying a small amount of marijuana, raúlrsalinas wrote extensively while in prison, including essays, letters, prose, and journalism, the vast majority which is now held at Stanford University. raúlrsalinas' work extended beyond his prison writing, focusing also on his Xicanindio (indigenous identified Chicano) heritage and his politics as a Latino internationalist. According to Oxford University, raúlrsalinas "transformed elements of the American literary canon."

Amy Alison Dombroski (September 9, 1987 – October 3, 2013) was an American professional cyclist, who competed in cyclocross, road, and mountain bike racing. An American National Champion in Road (2009 U23), Cyclocross (2010, 2012, 2013), and Mountain Bike (2009), Dombroski also competed internationally, representing the United States at UCI World Championship Cyclocross, UCI World Cup Cyclocross, and UCI World Championship Cross Country Mountain Biking (2009 U23) events.
Transitioning from alpine ski racing to cycle racing in 2006, Dombroski's international cyclocross career began in 2007, with a grassroots fundraising initiative undertaken by her team, Velo Bella. The team sold equipment and special edition socks to generate funds to send Dombroski to compete in the 2008 UCI Cyclocross World Championships in Treviso, Italy.Originally from Vermont, Dombroski moved to Boulder, Colorado, where she climbed the ranks of women's cyclocross in the U.S. before moving to Belgium in the 2011–2012 season, to train and compete on the UCI World Cup cyclocross circuit. Dombroski met with success on the circuit, placing second in Leuven behind Sanne Cant, and achieving top ten finishes at the cyclocross events in Otegem, Heerlen, Hoogstraten, Diegem, Overijse, Antwerp, Gavere, Zogge, Zonhoven, Ruddervoorde, Kalmthout, and Neerpelt. Dombroski's nickname Cross Diva stems from a disagreement regarding the mandatory use of sponsored equipment, as well as Dombroski's petite stature and efforts to promote gender equality for cyclists' pay.

Azucena Villaflor (7 April 1924 – 10 December 1977) was an Argentine activist and one of the founders of the Mothers of the Plaza de Mayo, a human rights organisation which looks for the victims of enforced disappearances during Argentina's Dirty War.

Jon Gilmore Lindgren (born 1939) is an American politician who was the mayor of Fargo, North Dakota, an advocate for LGBT rights, and a professor at North Dakota State University.

Jaime Andrés Bassa Mercado (born 31 March 1977) is a Chilean politician and attorney. Bassa has served as the Vice President of the Constitutional Convention of Chile since 2021. A political independent, Bassa is closely associated with the left-wing Broad Front alliance.

Mary Ruthsdotter (October 14, 1944 – January 8, 2010) was a feminist activist who co-founded the National Women's History Project, for which she produced curriculum guides, teacher training programs and videos on women’s history. She played an influential role in obtaining Congressional resolutions and Presidential proclamations designating Women's History Week and, later, Women's History Month.

Joan Dye Gussow (born 1928) is an American professor, author, food policy expert, environmentalist and gardener. The New York Times has called her the "matriarch of the eat-locally-think-globally food movement."

Nell Soto (June 18, 1926 – February 26, 2009) was an American politician. Soto represented the 61st Assembly district (including parts of Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties and the cities of Ontario, Pomona, Chino and Montclair) from 1998 to 2000 and again from 2006 to 2008. She served two terms as a state senator for the 32nd district from 2000 to 2006.
Soto served on the Pomona city council from 1986 until 1998. Soto also served on the South Coast Air Quality Management District. She was the first Latina from the San Gabriel Valley to be elected to that position. In 2006, she authored legislation that included expansion of the Nell Soto Teacher Involvement program, improving foster care licensing, and improving welfare to work programs.
Soto was married to Phil Soto, a pioneering Latino politician in California's history. Soto died February 26, 2009, after months of declining health.

Jean Howell (November 21, 1927 – July 23, 1996) was an American television actress. She also appeared occasionally in films.
Howell was the daughter of Burl Howell and Esther Hyde ‘’Buddy’’ Howell, along with her sister Dixon. The family moved to Sebastopol, California area in 1935. She graduated in 1944 from Analy High School in Sebastopol, and later from the University of Washington.On stage, Howell acted in New York in summer stock theater and at the Horseshoe Theater in Los Angeles. Television programs on which she appeared included Perry Mason, Space Patrol, Armstrong Circle Theatre, Four Star Theater, Lux Video Theatre, and Telephone Time. Her films included the 1957 western Hell's Crossroads.Howell was married to actor Larry Thor for four months in 1956.In her later years, Howell was an advocate for environmental efforts to clean up Santa Monica Bay. She gave talks about ecology and also trained speakers for similar activities.Howell died of cancer on July 23, 1996, in Santa Monica, California. She was 68.
