Michel-Marie Bernard Calvet S.M. (born 3 April 1944 in Autun, France) is the French-born New Caledonian Archbishop. He has served as the Archbishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nouméa from since his appointment on 19 June 1981. He also served as the Titular bishop of the Diocese of Nigrae Maiores.
Calvert was ordained as a Catholic priest in the Society of Mary on 28 April 1973.On 4 July 1979 Calvert was appointed as an Auxiliary Bishop of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Nouméa, based in Nouméa, New Caledonia. He was simultaneously appointed the titular bishop on Nigrae Maiores on the same day.Michel-Marie Calvet was appointed the Archbishop of the Archdiocese of Nouméa on 19 June 1981. He continued to serve as Archbishop as of 2010.

Jean-Paul Denanot, born 24 April 1944, is a French politician, a member of the Socialist Party.
Between 1992 and 2004, he was Mayor of the town of Feytiat, in Haute-Vienne, a post which he gave up in order to become President of the Regional Council of Limousin.
He had run for the European Parliament in the 2004 elections in the Constituency of Loire, Massif Central, but was ranked one place too low on the Socialist list to be elected. In September 2008, Bernadette Bourzai resigned from the Parliament, due to her election to the French Senate, and Denanot took her place. Doing so, he became the first President of a French regional council to also be an MEP, although at the same time he resigned his positions as assistant to the Mayor of Feytiat, and Vice President of the Agglomeration community of Limoges-Metropole.

Yves Bertrand (25 January 1944 – 3 June 2013) was a French intelligence officer and the General Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (RG) of the French police from 1992 to 2004. His diaries led to a political scandal in the run-up to the French presidential election in 2007. On 3 June 2013 he was found dead in his flat in Paris, France. He was 69 years old. The cause of death is as yet unknown.

Henri Guédon (born May 22, 1944, in Fort de France in Martinique - died on February 12, 2006, in Paris, France after heart surgery) was a French percussionist from Martinique. His first band was called La Contesta and he organised it when he was 20. He was awarded a Maracas d'or the first year the awards ran. In 1983, Philippe Langlais invited him to compose a mix of classical and jazz with his orchestra, the resulting composition called Opéra Triangulaire. He was a judo champion 1963-65. Multiple albums fused Antillean rhythms with other music from around the world. Guedon was instrumental in exporting the new sound of 60s and 70s Latin -guaguanco, boogaloo, salsa, descarga - to France and the rest of Europe. When Guedon began placing his percussion instruments at the front of the stage in the style of his great influence Ray Barretto, French audience members found themselves shocked and intrigued. Soon enough, greats like El Conde and Pacheco were touring France. Were it not for Henri Guedon, Europe could have conceivably taken years to move forward from mambo and cha-cha-cha.

Eric Bogle (born 23 September 1944) is a Scottish-born Australian folk singer-songwriter. Born and raised in Scotland, he emigrated to Australia at the age of 25, to settle near Adelaide, South Australia. Bogle's songs have covered a variety of topics and have been performed by many artists. Two of his best known songs are "No Man's Land" (or "The Green Fields of France") and "And the Band Played Waltzing Matilda", with the latter named one of the APRA Top 30 Australian songs in 2001, as part of the celebrations for the Australasian Performing Right Association's 75th anniversary.

Christian Fechner (26 July 1944 – 25 November 2008) was a French film producer, screenwriter and director.After starting off as an illusionist, he became a music producer with French singer Antoine. He transformed Antoine’s musicians, les Problems, into a band named Les Charlots.Fechner produced such films as Les bidasses en folie, Les fous du stade, Bons baisers de Hong Kong, Viens chez moi, j'habite chez une copine, Papy fait de la résistance, Les Spécialistes, Marche à l'ombre, The Children of the Marshland, La Tour Montparnasse Infernale, Chouchou.
In 2005, he produced Les Bronzés 3: Amis pour la vie (and marked his last great success making nearly $151,211,264 at the box office.Christian Fechner died of cancer on 25 November 2008.
Fechner had two children: film producer Alexandra Fechner and Maxime Fechner, owner of the fashion brand Kymerah.

Maurice Izier (Crest, 18 March 1944) was a French professional road bicycle racer. Izier won stage 22A of the 1968 Tour de France.

Charly Grosskost (5 March 1944 – 19 June 2004) was a French racing cyclist who, in 1968, won the prologue time trial of both the Giro d'Italia and the Tour de France. He won stages of the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia, and on the track, he was French pursuit champion nine times. His sporting career began with A.C.B.B. Paris.

Didier Couécou (born 25 July 1944) is a former French footballer who played striker. He was part of France national football team at the FIFA World Cup 1966.
