Athletes (track and field) at the 1924 Summer Olympics

Lee Stratford Barnes (July 16, 1906 – December 28, 1970) was an American athlete from Utah who competed in the men's pole vault. He was born in Salt Lake City, Utah and died in Oxnard, California.Barnes attended the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He competed in Athletics at the 1924 Summer Olympics in Paris and won gold, beating fellow American pole vaulter Glenn Graham, who received silver.
Barnes has the honor of being the only known stunt double for silent film star Buster Keaton during Keaton's independent years of film making. In Keaton's 1927 feature College, Barnes performed a pole vault through an open upper-story window.

Paul Pierre Bontemps (16 November 1902 – 25 April 1981) was a French runner. He competed at the 1924 Paris Olympics in the 3,000 m steeplechase and in the flat 3,000 m team event, and finished in third and fourth place, respectively. He set an unofficial world record in the steeplechase a few weeks before the Games.

Manuel Jesús Plaza Reyes (17 March 1900 – 9 February 1969) was a long-distance runner from Chile. He competed in the marathon at the 1924 and 1928 Olympics and won a silver medal in 1928, becoming the first Olympic medalist from Chile. He placed sixth in 1924, and served as the flag bearer for Chile at both Olympics.

Pierre Lewden (21 February 1901 – 30 April 1989) was a French high jumper who competed at the 1920, 1924 and 1928 Olympics. He won a bronze medal in 1924 and finished in seventh place in 1920 and 1928. Despite his short statue (1.67 m) Lewden was ranked #1–2 in Europe and #3–9 in the world in 1921–1925.
