Dutch illustrators

Tjeerd (Tsjeard) Bottema (6 February 1884 in Langezwaag – 8 March 1978 in Katwijk) was a Dutch painter, illustrator and book cover designer.

Martina “Tine” Baanders (1890 – 1971) was a Dutch illustrator, graphic designer, typographer, lithographer, teacher and made items out of leather. She is known for ex-libris designs and protective book covers. She studied at the Instituut voor Kunstnijverheidsonderwijs in Amsterdam. In 1919 she became a teacher in design and calligraphy at the book binding department of the Dagteeken- en Kunstambachtsschool voor Meisjes in Amsterdam. She was a frequent contributor to the art magazine Wendingen. She exhibited her work in Amsterdam (1913, 1917), Rotterdam (1918), Haarlem (1919) and Paris (1925). At the Exposition Internationale des Arts Décoratifs et Industriels Modernes (1925 world's fair) in Paris, she was awarded a Diplôme de Médaille de Bronze.
Besides teaching in Amsterdam, she also taught calligraphy during the years 1949-1953 at the Academie voor Kunst en Industrie (AKI) in Enschede.

Johan Coenraad Braakensiek (24 May 1858 – 27 February 1940) was a Dutch painter, illustrator, caricaturist and political cartoonist. He is the grandfather of Jan van Oort.

Louis Raemaekers (April 6, 1869 – July 26, 1956) was a Dutch painter, caricaturist and editorial cartoonist for the Amsterdam newspaper De Telegraaf during World War I, noted for his anti-German stance.

Anton Franciscus Pieck (19 April 1895 – 24 November 1987) was a Dutch painter, artist and graphic artist. His works are noted for their nostalgic or fairy tale-like character and are widely popular, appearing regularly on cards and calendars. He is also known for being the first designer of the famous Dutch theme park Efteling.

Rien Poortvliet (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈrinˈpoːrtflit]; 7 August 1932 – 15 September 1995) was a Dutch artist and illustrator.

Hendrik Willem van Loon (January 14, 1882 – March 11, 1944) was a Dutch-American historian, journalist, and children's book author.
